About Hollywood Woodwork
Hollywood Woodwork was founded in 1968 by John DesMarais Sr. in Hollywood, Florida. The company began as a family-owned shop and transitioned to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) in 1999, with the goal of becoming fully employee-owned. Yves DesMarais, who moved from Quebec in 1969, has served as Chairman and CEO since 1974, guiding the firm from a local operation to a national and Caribbean provider of architectural woodwork. His son, Sebastien DesMarais, became President in 2015 after joining in 2010. The company operates a 90,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in South Florida with a staff of over 150, including estimators, project managers, millwork engineers, master craftsmen, machine technicians, installation carpenters, and quality and safety professionals. Hollywood Woodwork provides full-service architectural millwork and custom interiors, covering design assist, submittals and procurement, engineering, fabrication, and installation. The shop fabricates and integrates wood with metal, stone, glass, and upholstery to meet design and budget requirements. Hollywood Woodwork serves general contractors, developers, architects, and designers on high-end commercial and residential projects across the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean. Project types include luxury hotels, multifamily developments, corporate headquarters, airports, convention centers, stadiums, universities, and museums. Notable projects referenced on the company’s website include the Alina Residences, Auberge, Ocean Reef, Miami Dolphins Training Facility, The Ray Hotel, and the Pier 66 project in Fort Worth, Texas. The firm emphasizes its employee-ownership model as a driver of accountability and service, stating that every employee-owner is a stakeholder in customer success. It also highlights its AWI Quality Certification Program (QCP) compliance, LEED and FSC project experience, and a “Can Do” attitude combined with honesty and exceptional service as differentiators.
