About Indy Urban Hardwood Company
Indy Urban Hardwood Company operates from Indianapolis, Indiana, where it was founded in 2017 by Brian Presnell. The venture began as a response to the emerald ash borer infestation that was killing the city's ash trees, with the goal of giving those trees a second life as studio furniture. The company fabricates handcrafted solid wood furniture using 100 percent recycled lumber sourced exclusively from the Indianapolis metropolitan area. The furniture serves a range of public and private spaces, with concrete examples including office buildings, libraries, restaurants, and music venues throughout Indianapolis. Residential clients are also served, reflecting the company's broader market reach. The founding mission centers on sustainability and high design, positioning the business at the forefront of a shift toward valuing reclaimed materials. As Presnell states, the aim is simply to "do a good thing and make good things."
