About Ipsun Solar
Ipsun Solar is based in Fairfax, Virginia, with an additional office in Washington, D.C. The company was co-founded by an electro-mechanical engineer, Herve Billiet, who previously contributed to MIT's solar vehicle program and served as a strategy consultant for the U.S. Department of Energy. In 2024, Ipsun was acquired by Civic Renewables, a national platform for local clean-energy businesses, and operates as a Certified B Corporation. The firm designs and installs residential and commercial photovoltaic systems across Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia, and pairs them with home battery storage from brands such as Tesla, FranklinWH, and Span. It also provides ongoing solar maintenance and monitoring through its proprietary Ipsun App. Since launch, the team has completed more than 1,500 installations, with a dedicated warehouse and showroom in Fairfax supporting operations. Ipsun serves homeowners and businesses in the DMV region seeking to reduce electricity costs and improve energy resilience. Its customers include private residences, commercial property owners, and organizations pursuing net-metering benefits and backup power solutions. The company handles permitting, inspections, and utility interconnection on behalf of clients. Ipsun differentiates itself through its B Corp commitment, membership in the Amicus solar cooperative, and a 25-year hardware warranty. The founders aimed to bring transparent, long-term quality to an industry often marked by short-term contractors, offering fixed pricing between $2.50 and $4.00 per watt and managing all regulatory paperwork.
