About North American Switchgear
North American Switchgear operates from a 300,000-square-foot facility in Cleveland, Ohio. The company was founded in 1980 by Robert Jordan as a one-room, one-man operation and has remained a family-owned business for over four decades. The company maintains one of the world’s largest inventories of out-of-production circuit breakers rated from 600 V to 15 kV, sourcing equipment from all major manufacturers. In addition to stocking low- and medium-voltage air and vacuum breakers, switchgear, and motor control units, North American Switchgear runs an onsite service shop that performs reconditioning, testing, remanufacturing, repair, and retrofit work. The shop is PEARL-accredited, reflecting a commitment to standardized reconditioning practices maintained for more than 25 years. Customers include major city utilities and industrial facilities that need replacement parts for legacy electrical distribution systems. The sales team, led by President Kristen Jordan and Senior Sales Executives Michael Jordan and Jennifer Tyler, handles both domestic and international accounts, with Tyler managing most overseas orders. The company attributes its longevity to a model that is large enough to serve utility-scale demands yet small enough to guarantee personal attention. The majority of business comes from repeat customers and referrals, a pattern the leadership traces to a culture of customer care established by the founder.
