About Redefined Woodworking Co
Redefined Woodworking Co. operates from Menifee, California, where founders Eric and Sara Ruby established the business after their marriage in 2017. Eric, a U.S. Naval Academy graduate with a mechanical engineering degree, and Sara, a former teacher with a teaching credential from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, turned Eric’s woodworking hobby into a venture while he continued his Navy service. The couple relocated twice with the military before settling in Southern California to build the company. The workshop produces handcrafted, American-made furniture with a focus on custom dining tables, along with other bespoke pieces. Services include furniture design consulting, wood species education, material selection guidance, and woodworking classes for enthusiasts. Each project moves through an inquiry, consultation, and delivery phase, with the team handling assembly on-site. No facility size or headcount figures are disclosed. The company serves residential clients seeking heirloom-quality furniture tailored to their spaces, as well as hobbyists attending woodworking classes. Customers are typically families and homeowners who value durable, customizable pieces made from solid wood. The Rubys’ emphasis on the dining table as a gathering point shapes their primary market. The Rubys cite their consultation process and Eric’s engineering background as differentiators, aiming to exceed client expectations through structural soundness and functional design. Their philosophy, “Invest in things that last,” reflects a commitment to educating buyers on wood properties, cost trade-offs, and long-term value.
