About Rooted Furniture
Rooted Furniture operates from a workshop in Boulder, Colorado, where it designs and builds custom solid-wood furniture. The company was established to create heirloom-quality pieces using only sustainably harvested North American hardwoods, avoiding plywood and veneer entirely. Each piece is handcrafted from domestically sourced species such as white oak, black walnut, hard maple, and cherry. The shop employs traditional joinery techniques — mortise and tenon, dovetail, and tongue and groove — and finishes every surface with a plant-based, non-toxic oil that is food-safe and VOC-free. Projects typically move from consultation to delivery in eight to fourteen weeks, depending on complexity. Rooted serves residential clients across the Front Range and ships nationwide via white-glove freight carriers. A core differentiator is the Planting Roots initiative, which plants a tree through the National Forest Foundation for every table sold. The business emphasizes responsible forestry, using FSC-certified, ECC, CARB, and LEED-compliant lumber, and invites customers to visit its Boulder workshop by appointment.
