About Sentinel Solar
Sentinel Solar is based in Covington, Kentucky, and serves customers across Kentucky and Ohio. The company was founded by Jan Thurman, who brought over a decade of coast-to-coast experience in residential and commercial solar to establish a firm built on the conviction that solar should be done right or not at all. The company designs and installs custom solar-plus-storage systems for homes and businesses, handling every step from permitting and utility approval to final commissioning. Its services include residential solar with battery backup, commercial solar arrays, EV charger installation, and generator integration. All work is performed by Sentinel's own crews rather than subcontractors, and recent projects include installations at a private residence in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, and at Wenzel Distillery and ProMaster in Cincinnati, Ohio. The company emphasizes long-term relationships over volume, positioning itself as a premium provider rather than a high-volume installer. Thurman founded the business to offer a local, accountable alternative to national franchises. The company cites four guiding principles: a consultative, non-transactional sales approach; local accountability with a team that lives in the community; installer-first quality that prioritizes safe, correct installation; and a referral-driven model that depends on long-term customer satisfaction.
