About SkyWater Technology

SkyWater Technology is headquartered in Bloomington, Minnesota. The company took shape in 2017 when it acquired the fabrication facility originally established by Cypress Semiconductor in 1991. Now a wholly owned subsidiary of IonQ, SkyWater operates as the largest exclusively U.S.-based semiconductor foundry with no foreign controlling interest. SkyWater provides pure-play foundry services including wafer manufacturing, advanced packaging, heterogeneous integration, and technology development across three U.S. facilities. The Bloomington flagship fab runs 200 mm equipment in a 91,000 sq ft class 10 cleanroom supporting 90 nm and larger geometries. The Kissimmee, Florida site adds 200/300 mm advanced packaging in a 36,000 sq ft class 1,000/10,000 cleanroom. The Austin, Texas fab, acquired in 2025, brings 200 mm equipment, a 114,000 sq ft class 1 cleanroom, 30,000 sq ft of probe and test, and 65 nm+ capability. The foundry serves fabless companies, integrated device manufacturers, OEMs, startups, government agencies, and research organizations across quantum computing, automotive, aerospace and defense, high-performance computing and AI, industrial, and biomedical markets. Its DMEA-accredited supplier status qualifies it for radiation-hardened and other mission-critical programs. SkyWater differentiates itself through a collaborative Technology-as-a-Service model that aims to accelerate customers from concept to production, secure domestic supply chains, and support national technology leadership.
