About The Wood Shop Iowa
The Wood Shop, Inc. operates from Orange City, Iowa, where it was founded in 1985 by DeWayne Dykstra. A family-owned business rooted in Dutch heritage, it began in a single-stall garage before moving to a dedicated facility in 1993. Dykstra passed ownership to his sons Josh, James, and Jake in 2018, who now lead a team of about 15 craftsmen and project managers. The company manufactures custom cabinetry, architectural millwork, and fireplaces in its own woodworking shop, using mortise-and-tenon face frames, biscuit-joined construction, and furniture-grade finishes. It also provides full-service residential remodeling—kitchens, bathrooms, additions—and commercial cabinetry for offices, churches, schools, healthcare facilities, and retail spaces. Countertop materials include Cambria Quartz, granite, marble, onyx, solid surface, and laminate. Onyx Collection showers are fabricated and installed on-site. Primary customers are homeowners across Northwest Iowa, including Orange City, Sioux Center, Le Mars, Okoboji, Sioux City, and surrounding communities. Commercial clients span offices, churches, schools, healthcare providers, and retail businesses throughout Iowa, with reach into South Dakota and Minnesota. The Wood Shop emphasizes in-house cabinet production for complete quality control, construction techniques designed for 20-year durability, personalized design tailored to each household's use patterns, and a single-team approach that manages projects from design through final walkthrough.
