About TY Fine Furniture
T.Y. Fine Furniture was founded in 2004 in Columbus, Ohio, by Tarik Yousef, a former Honda engineer who applied his precision background to furniture design. The company began with a focus on combining traditional joinery techniques with modern engineering principles. The workshop produces solid-wood furniture for bedrooms, dining rooms, living rooms, and home offices, using four Ohio hardwoods — cherry, black walnut, white oak, and hard maple. Each piece is built to order using mortise-and-tenon, dovetail, and floating-tenon joinery reinforced with stainless steel dowels, with boards hand-selected for grain and color. Finishing is done by hand with a zero-VOC, food-grade organic oil developed in collaboration with an Ohio State microbiologist. The company operates its own shop within a 200-mile radius of Columbus and maintains two retail showrooms in the Clintonville and Grandview Heights neighborhoods. The primary customer base is residential buyers seeking heirloom-quality furniture, though the showrooms also carry complementary lines from Stressless, American Leather, Fjords, and Naturepedic. The company differentiates itself through a lifetime structural guarantee, a finish safe enough for nursery use, and a program that plants two trees for every order placed.
