About Vermont Table Company
Vermont Table Company operates from a barn woodshop in East Burke, Vermont. The company was founded by Middlebury College friends Doug Clarner and Dena Greenman, who combined Clarner’s two decades of custom furniture experience with Greenman’s operational background. Clarner had previously run Clarner Woodworks before the pair launched the venture to create handcrafted recognition gifts. The company produces custom tables and recognition gifts, handcrafted from locally sourced cherry and other Vermont hardwoods, often incorporating stone elements. All fabrication occurs in Clarner’s East Burke workshop, where he handles design, joinery, finishing, and shipping. Output spans one-off corporate service awards, graduation gifts, and anniversary pieces, with each piece built to order. Customers include corporations seeking distinctive service awards, academic institutions marking graduations, and individuals commemorating personal milestones. The founders emphasize a “sense of place” in each table, drawing on Vermont’s natural materials and slower pace of life.
