1st Choice Millworks Inc.

About 1st Choice Millworks Inc.

The business remains family-owned; Ted and Kelly Yurek transferred leadership to their son Ryan and his wife Morgan in 2019, with Ryan overseeing daily operations and Morgan handling finances. The shop produces architectural millwork, custom interior doors, and pre-finished exterior cladding, handling design, fabrication, and installation in-house. It runs as an authorized reseller for TruStile Doors, Ashley Norton Hardware, and Rocky Mountain Hardware. The facility turns out nearly one million linear feet of lumber each year, supported by a team that includes a shop foreman, vice president, moulding operator, finish specialist, two estimators, a coordinator, and several operators. Clients are primarily super-premium home builders, architects, and high-end residential contractors in the Pacific Northwest. A notable project was the Black Rock development in Coeur d'Alene, where the company pre-finished exterior cladding for a major builder. The company emphasizes sustainable sourcing, offering FSC-certified eucalyptus, Accoya, Western Red Cedar, and white oak, while minimizing waste. Its differentiators include a family-oriented culture, a commitment to on-time delivery, and a collaborative approach that spans concept through installation.
