About 57NorthPlank
57NorthPlank operates a furniture workshop in Columbus, Ohio, where it builds custom solid-wood pieces to order. The company sells directly to homeowners, offering a range of modern designs that can be customized to fit specific spaces. The product line includes tables, desks, bedroom sets, living-room pieces, bookshelves, and storage units, all constructed from solid hardwoods such as black walnut, maple, ash, and cherry. Every piece is made to order using English dovetail joinery for drawers, wood-core veneers for back panels, and U.S.-made soft-close hinges and drawer glides. The workshop holds no inventory; production begins after payment, and most orders ship within 12 to 21 days. The primary customers are residential buyers seeking made-to-measure furniture for their homes. The company’s online gallery lets shoppers select standard sizes or work with a designer to adjust dimensions, receiving a drawing within 48 hours for approval before construction starts. 57NorthPlank emphasizes sustainability and domestic sourcing: electricity comes from renewable suppliers, hardwoods are harvested within 250 miles of the facility, and finishes are low-VOC. The firm also avoids MDF and particle board, and each piece is inspected and signed off by the carpenter before it leaves the shop.
