About Akin Industries
Akin Industries, based in Dumas, Arkansas, was founded in 1985 as a family-owned operation in the Arkansas Timberlands. Three generations of the Akin family have maintained the original vision, with Mike Akin serving as president and John Akin as vice president. The company began as a small-town furniture maker and has grown into a complete furnishing solution for commercial environments. The company manufactures hospitality furniture, senior living furniture, and healthcare furniture, including tables, seating, bed panels, and casegoods. Production is handcrafted by skilled workers raised in the trade, supported by an in-house design and engineering team that develops custom furnishings to specification. Akin operates as manufacturer, supplier, and distributor, offering a range of wood stains, laminate options, and fabric selections. Facility size and headcount are not disclosed. Akin serves the hotel and hospitality industry, assisted living and senior living communities, healthcare facilities, educational housing, and government projects through its GSA Workshop. The company emphasizes flexibility and versatility alongside durable performance, designing around safety and comfort for residential-style environments. Its differentiators include a complete in-house capability from design through distribution, a wide palette of finishes and fabrics, and a family-owned culture that prioritizes long-term relationships and community.
