Atlas Precision Inc. traces its roots to April 1979, when Johann W. Hofschuster founded Atlas Mold Inc. in Arden, North Carolina, to design and build injection molds. In 1988 the company added a custom molding division, Atlas Precision Plastics, and installed its first molding machines the following year. The two operations were combined under one roof in 2006, and the business has remained under Hofschuster's leadership as president and chief executive. Today the firm operates as a full-service injection molder with 33 presses ranging from 80 to 360 tons, each equipped with a robot or sprue picker. Long-standing customers include Johnson & Johnson (Personal Care and Vistakon divisions), S.C. Johnson, Bic Corporation, Robert Bosch Automotive, Tyco Electronics, and Trex.
