About Backwoods Solar Electric Systems
The firm designs and sells renewable energy equipment, including solar modules, wind turbines, micro-hydro turbines, and all balance-of-system components. It assembles custom-built solar panel system kits and creates custom-designed solar power system plans, offering free system design and lifetime technical support. The team uses firsthand experience living off-grid to tailor each system, avoiding pre-packaged kits in favor of one-on-one consultation with customers and installers. Backwoods Solar serves residential off-grid homeowners, grid-tie customers, small cabin owners, mobile and RV users, and commercial grid-tie projects. It also works with dealers and installers who need customized system designs for their clients. Examples include solar-direct water pumping systems and custom off-grid cabin packages. The company says its differentiator is the staff's personal off-grid lifestyle, which gives them practical insight into the products they sell. They emphasize free design service, unlimited after-sale support, and a commitment to exploring each project's unique needs rather than selling standardized kits.
