About Format Furniture inc.
Format Furniture Inc. operates a high-end furniture showroom in the SOHO neighborhood of New York City. The company was established more than 20 years ago by Brazilian designer Sany Marques, who remains the owner. Marques founded the boutique to provide an intensely curated selection of modern and contemporary furnishings. Format does not manufacture furniture; instead, it retails collections from European brands such as Cattelan Italia and Arketipo Firenze, offering pieces that range from upholstered sofas and chairs to tables, case goods, lighting, and accessories. The showroom functions as a design resource where a team of designers and sales consultants assist clients with full-home or full-business specification, including kitchens, bathrooms, and custom closets. The clientele spans elite residential and commercial projects. Format has furnished star-studded restaurants in New York and Las Vegas, specified kitchens and bathrooms for exclusive apartment buildings, and provided custom closet systems for hotels. Showroom manager Robin Kay notes that the firm can outfit an entire home or business while maintaining personal attention on each job. Marques’s design philosophy emphasizes muted colors, non-patterned fabrics, and clean lines, creating a continuous aesthetic throughout the showroom. This curated point of view serves as a springboard for clients’ own ideas, distinguishing Format from broader-market retailers.
