Gill CC Woodworks INC

About Gill CC Woodworks INC

Gill CC Woodworks operates from a third-generation family farm in Gill, Massachusetts. French developed his own voice in the tradition, establishing a practice that honors the full lifecycle of each tree. The company produces custom-designed, handmade furniture including dining tables, bars, coffee tables, doors, benches, beds, desks, and conference tables. Each piece begins with sustainably harvested logs that are sawn on the farm's own sawmill, then acclimated in a dedicated room before being crafted using mortise-and-tenon joinery, butterfly inlays, and live-edge or traditional profiles. The facility encompasses a tree farm, a large lumber and slab inventory, and a multi-room shop complex. Clients range from private homeowners to institutions and commercial venues. Past projects include furniture for architect Maya Lin, Smith College's Neilson Library, the PACE Art Gallery, Amherst College, the Mount Grace Land Trust, Dudley Town Brewery, and a custom door for musician Will Calhoun of Living Colour. The shop also works with architecture firms such as Bialosky Architects. French emphasizes a commitment to land protection and preservation, describing sustainability as paramount. The operation aims to celebrate the spirit of each tree by carrying it from harvest through milling to finished heirloom, offering clients a tangible connection to the material's origin.
