Massachusetts Woodworks

About Massachusetts Woodworks

Massachusetts Woodworks operates from Gloucester, Massachusetts, under the leadership of second-generation master woodworker Darren Taylor. Taylor emphasizes his heritage in the craft, describing his work as a continuation of family woodworking tradition. The business focuses on creating one-of-a-kind pieces for both commercial and residential clients across New England. The shop produces custom furniture including built-ins, school desks, tack boxes, bars, and other specialty items. Taylor notes that the facility is equipped to handle projects of any scale, from small residential commissions to large commercial installations. Every piece is made to order, with no two projects identical in design, wood selection, or finish. The company serves interior designers, architects, general contractors, and individual homeowners throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, and Rhode Island. Taylor frequently collaborates with design professionals on the North Shore and in the Greater Boston area, translating concepts—sometimes sketched on a napkin—into finished installations. Taylor positions the business on heirloom-quality craftsmanship and a collaborative process that begins with a client’s idea and ends with a unique, hand-finished product. The emphasis on personal consultation and the ability to execute projects of any size are cited as key differentiators.
