About Mark Richey Woodworking and Design
Mark Richey Woodworking and Design operates from a 105,000-square-foot facility in Newburyport, Massachusetts. Over four decades it has grown into a national provider of architectural woodwork and corporate furniture, with a division called WallGoldfinger Furniture dedicated to custom workplace furnishings. The shop combines high-tech tooling — CNC routers, state-of-the-art finishing lines — with traditional hand craftsmanship to produce acoustic panels, curved wood elements, custom trim, staircases, museum displays, window walls, and full wall-paneling systems. On the furniture side it builds boardroom tables, conference and dining pieces, desks, credenzas, lecterns, moot-court furniture, banquettes, and collaborative seating, including the proprietary Doko product line. Clients span academic, corporate, museum, performing-arts, residential, restaurant, retail, and hospitality sectors. Notable installations include the LEGO Group’s U.S. headquarters in Boston, the CarGurus office, Novartis Biomedical Research’s U.S. headquarters, the Met’s 81st Street Studio, and a Midwest contemporary residence designed by Peter Rose Architects. The founders frame the business around sustainability — the plant runs on clean-burning biomass heat — and inclusivity, aiming to mentor a new generation of craftspeople from historically marginalized groups. Leadership emphasizes fused art-and-technology craftsmanship, integrated project teams, and a promise to meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.
