About Hawaii Energy Connection
Hawaii Energy Connection, LLC was founded in 2007 in Aiea, Hawaii. The company began as a solar PV integrator focused on delivering affordable energy solutions across the islands. The firm designs and installs turnkey solar photovoltaic systems paired with battery storage and energy management controls under the KumuKit™ brand. Its services span project planning, equipment assembly, configuration, staging, and ongoing technical support. The company also participates in utility grid‑service programs, offering aggregated edge‑of‑grid virtual power plant capabilities. Recognized nationally, it appeared on Inc. Magazine’s list of the 500 fastest‑growing private companies and ranked 16th in the energy sector. Hawaii Energy Connection serves both residential and commercial customers. Homeowners receive customized rooftop packages that include whole‑home energy monitoring and modular battery backup. Commercial clients receive PV systems delivered on schedule and within budget, with the company handling permitting and incentive paperwork. The installer also works with utility programs that enable customers to store daytime generation for evening use or emergency backup. The company emphasizes right‑sizing each system to maximize energy production and available incentives, thereby reducing electric bills. It differentiates itself by managing the full administrative burden—permits, interconnection agreements, and incentive applications—and by engineering its KumuKit™ platform to integrate seamlessly with emerging time‑of‑use rates and distributed energy resource tariffs.
