About Huston & Company
Huston & Company, based in Arundel, Maine, with a showroom and workshop in nearby Kennebunkport, was founded in 1988. It began with a mission to design and build furniture that integrates function, form, and master-level craftsmanship in an elegant, enduring style. The firm produces custom hardwood furniture for residential, corporate, academic, library, and institutional settings. A select group of master craftsmen builds each piece by hand using traditional joinery—hand-cut dovetails and mortise-and-tenon joints—applied to premium hardwoods, followed by hand-rubbed finishes. Every piece is signed and dated. The workshop operates adjacent to the Kennebunkport showroom, and output is built to order, one piece at a time, with shop drawings provided for custom projects. Clients range from individual homeowners to architects and designers specifying furnishings for university libraries, law offices, and corporate environments. The company collaborates directly with project teams to determine furnishing needs and create pieces that meet specific functional and aesthetic requirements. Huston & Company distinguishes itself through its commitment to traditional craftsmanship, premium materials, and a design process that emphasizes wood selection, joinery, and finish—details the company says are absent from mass-produced furniture. Its founding mission centers on integrating function, form, and master-level craftsmanship into graceful, enduring pieces.
