About Idaho Transmission Warehouse
Idaho Transmission Warehouse traces its roots to 1970 when James R. McGeachin opened an AAMCO franchise in Idaho Falls, then quickly struck out on his own to form Western Transmission. In 1974 he founded Idaho Transmission Warehouse (ITW) as a wholesale drivetrain-parts supplier adjacent to the repair shop, and by 1982 the business expanded to Boise under his son Jimmy. Today the third generation of the McGeachin family operates the company from Boise, Idaho, maintaining a family-owned structure. The business runs three integrated divisions. Idaho Transmission Warehouse stocks a broad range of remanufactured and new drivetrain components — automatic and standard transmissions, transfer cases, differentials, torque converters and individual parts — serving shops across Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Oregon, Nevada and Washington. Western Transmission operates a 12,000-square-foot, ATRA-certified repair facility with 12 bays, 11 lifts and 10 full-time technicians. High Torque, launched in 1988, is a dedicated torque-converter remanufacturing plant producing 700 to 1,000 units per month for industrial, racing and specialty applications. The company emphasizes getting the right part the first time to minimize vehicle downtime, and it leverages a wide supplier network to source hard-to-find components. Founder Jim McGeachin started the parts operation because transmission components were difficult to find and overpriced, driving up repair costs. The current leadership continues that mission, reinvesting in inventory and working closely with suppliers to stock parts for transmissions just coming off warranty, while upholding a reputation for honest work and fair pricing.
