About Ironwood Manufacturing Inc.
Ironwood Manufacturing Inc. The company was founded on principles of honest dealing and practical design, though an exact founding year is not disclosed. The manufacturer produced eight distinct product lines encompassing library furniture (Glacier series), mobile cabinets (Denali series), tables (Arches series), music storage (Teton series), general bookcases and work centers, administration desks (Sequoia), computer workstations (Grand Canyon), and heavy-duty industrial arts furniture (Yosemite). In 2003, Ironwood expanded into ready-to-assemble (RTA) furniture, shifting from solely custom builds to a catalog of standardized, shippable products. All items were manufactured in the United States. Dealers and public‑sector buyers could reference the TIPS contract on quotes and purchase orders. Ironwood emphasized its Montana‑based craftsmanship, quality materials, and designs tailored to the daily demands of educational environments. The company cited its family‑owned heritage, honest‑handshake business approach, and focus on school and library needs as key differentiators. However, after more than 40 years of operation, Ironwood announced it was closing its doors and no longer accepting new orders.
