About Midwestern Wood Products Company
Midwestern Wood Products Company has operated from Peoria, Illinois since its founding in 1968. The company traces its expertise to the development of the WOODGRID® Suspended Coffered Ceiling System, a wood-based drop-ceiling solution designed to replicate historic coffered aesthetics with modern installation methods. The company manufactures the WOODGRID® system, which consists of main runners, cross tees, and drop-in coffer panels that create depth and architectural interest. The panels are removable, allowing access to mechanical and electrical systems above the ceiling. Midwestern Wood Products offers multiple styles, wood species, and finishes, and coordinates with Heritage Restoration and Design for custom finishing techniques such as antique painting. The system accommodates various ceiling conditions including high, low, cathedral, and basement heights, and integrates with lighting, venting, soffits, and home theater components. The product serves both residential and commercial markets. In homes, it is used in libraries, studies, dens, offices, and basements where access to ductwork is needed. Commercial applications include restaurants, lobbies, and other venues where a non-commercial, cozy appearance is desired. The company notes that the system is suitable for new construction and remodel projects alike. Midwestern Wood Products emphasizes that its WOODGRID® ceiling is American-made, affordable, and installs similarly to a standard metal grid system. The company also highlights its 40 years of experience in decorative wood drop ceilings and its ability to customize layouts for each space.
