About Russian River Brewing Company
Russian River Brewing Company traces its roots to 1997 when Korbel Champagne Cellars established a brewery in Guerneville, California. In 2003, Korbel transferred the brand, recipes, and beer names to Vinnie and his wife Natalie. The Windsor campus houses production for both clean and sour barrel-aged beers, administrative offices, a brewpub, outdoor beer garden, gift shop, tasting room with growler fills, and guided and self-guided tours. The brewery's flagship Pliny the Elder, first brewed in 1999, is credited as one of America's first commercial Double IPAs. Russian River distributes draft and bottled beer throughout California, while the original Santa Rosa location continues to produce small-batch brews and serve pizza. Its beers reach bars, restaurants, and bottle shops across the state, and the Windsor taproom hosts private events seven days a week. Russian River's reputation rests on early innovation in the Double IPA category and a decorated competition record: dozens of Great American Beer Festival and World Beer Cup medals, two Brewery and Brewmaster of the Year titles, the 2007 Russell Scherrer Award for Innovation in Brewing, and the 2017 Brewers Association Recognition Award.
