About Sota RV Solar
What began as a personal project turned into a side business helping friends add solar to their own rigs, and the operation was formalized under the SotaSolar.com domain in 2019. By 2020 the founders committed to solar full time, and in winter 2023 they established a permanent shop in Nowthen to house the growing team. The business designs, sells, and installs custom off-grid and RV solar systems built around Victron Energy inverters, chargers, and monitoring gear, along with lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries. Services include system estimation, consultation, and full installation for travel trailers, fifth wheels, Class A motorhomes, Airstreams, and, as of 2026, marine vessels. The shop also stocks Victron MultiPlus and Quattro inverter/chargers, Cerbo GX monitors, and battery balancers, and provides ongoing service and support for the systems it commissions. Customers range from weekend campers to full-time live-aboards who need reliable power without generator noise or campground hookups. Each build follows a stated philosophy: safe, serviceable, easy to use, and clean enough to be proud of. The founders say the company was started to give people who leave the grid behind a knowledgeable local partner—expert guidance before the sale, proper integration of panels, batteries, and inverters, and responsive support afterward. That dealer-installer model, combined with a focus on clean, serviceable workmanship, is presented as the core differentiator.
