About Whittier Wood Products
Whittier Wood Products traces its roots to 1867 when Charles Whittier joined the E.L. Brackett Lumber and Coal Company in Farmington, Minnesota, but the modern business began in 1975 when Gordon Whittier purchased a wood component manufacturing facility in Eugene, Oregon. The company produces solid wood furniture for bedrooms, home offices, living rooms, and media centers, marketed under collections such as Addison, Bailey, McKenzie, and Virginia. Operations span wood component manufacturing, assembly, and finishing at its Eugene factory, supplemented by a production facility opened in Vietnam in 2006. The product line includes both ready-to-finish kits sold to home centers and discount chains, and finished furniture distributed through traditional and specialty solid-wood retailers. Whittier serves a range of B2B customers, from mass-market home centers and discount chains to unfinished furniture stores and traditional furniture retailers. Historical accounts note early contracts with department stores such as Macy’s for ready-to-assemble oak tables and cabinets. The firm emphasizes heritage craftsmanship and the use of highest-grade lumber, values the family describes as honesty, integrity, and passion. Multi-generational continuity — now spanning three generations — is presented as a core differentiator, with the company highlighting its “real wood, real quality” philosophy and domestic-and-overseas manufacturing footprint.
