About Winkler Woods LLC
Winkler Woods LLC was established in 2002 in Honolulu, Hawaii by Jorma Winkler, a fourth-generation wood industry expert. The company began specializing in producing Koa and other exotic wood veneers and lumber, primarily for furniture making, starting in 2003. The company produces premium Koa veneers sourced from Hawaii's Mauna Loa, available as paper-backed (KamiPLY) and fleece-backed (WashiPLY) options. They also offer veneers in Mango, Monkey Pod, and Albizia. Their hardwood lumber selection includes figured curly Koa, spalted Mango, and Monkey Pod. They supply tonewood sets for ukuleles (soprano, concert, tenor) and guitars (acoustic and electric). Operations include custom orders and wholesale distribution through dealers on Big Island and Maui. Minimum purchase is $1,500. They serve musical instrument makers such as guitar and ukulele builders, furniture manufacturers, and woodworkers. Customers include both wholesale and retail markets globally, with distributors on the Big Island and Maui maintaining their own inventory. Their stated mission is to manufacture Hawaiian and exotic tonewoods, veneers, and lumber that show the beauty of God's creation. Core values include integrity, honesty, hard work, family, and efficiency. A secondary mission aims to provide commercial benefit to forest landowners while maintaining ecological values through a scientific approach.
