About Workhorse Factory
Workhorse operates from its 400,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Union City, Indiana, with corporate and engineering functions in Wixom, Michigan, and additional sites in Foster City, California, and Sharonville, Ohio. The company traces its commercial vehicle lineage to a school bus program launched in 2013, though a corporate founding year is not publicly stated. The company engineers and manufactures intelligent electrical systems for mission-critical applications, producing commercial electric vehicles — including step vans and school buses — and a modular AI data center platform called TerraPod. Its Union City plant integrates industrial design, electrical, mechanical, and software engineering, testing and validation, supply chain management, and final assembly and quality testing. Real-world fleet experience exceeds 20 million miles, and a recent 200-unit order from Gateway Fleets demonstrates production scale. Workhorse serves commercial fleet operators, school districts, defense and infrastructure markets, and the emerging distributed AI computing sector. Fleet customers operate across the United States and Canada; Gateway Fleets is a named operator expanding its electric step van fleet. The company emphasizes that engineering and manufacturing under one roof, combined with millions of operational miles, allow it to turn complex technology into reliable products that meet gas- and diesel-truck expectations without compromise. Leadership cites pride in building the vehicles and equipment essential industries depend on daily.
