About In The Mountains Custom Furniture
In The Mountains Custom Furniture was founded in 1996 in Livingston, Montana, as an owner-operated woodworking shop. The business began with a focus on custom furniture creation and has since expanded to include repair, refinishing, and restoration services for clients across the state. The company builds custom bedroom sets, bunk beds, tables, chairs, dressers, nightstands, and end tables to client specifications, working with various wood species, stains, and finishes. Its workshop handles structural repairs such as loose joints, broken drawer runners, and split panels using traditional joinery. Refinishing services strip, sand, and reapply finishes to match existing pieces, while restoration work on antiques and heirlooms employs period-appropriate methods to preserve original character. The shop also offers hardware replacement, pickup, delivery, professional setup, and shipping for customers beyond its 200-mile service radius. In The Mountains serves homeowners, businesses, interior designers, and property owners throughout Montana. Projects range from one-of-a-kind residential furnishings to commercial seating and the restoration of inherited antiques. The owner manages each job directly, coordinating design, material selection, and finish details with the client. The company emphasizes personally managed craftsmanship, free estimates, and military discounts. Its differentiators include direct owner oversight from start to finish, convenient logistics with pickup and delivery, and over three decades of hands-on experience across diverse furniture styles and construction methods.
