Never Stop Building LLC

About Never Stop Building LLC

The company was founded in 2013 by Jason Fox, who initially launched the venture as an engineering and prototyping business. A lifelong interest in Japanese history and culture, combined with a background in machining and computer-aided design, eventually steered the firm toward the precise world of Japanese woodworking. The studio specializes in traditional woodworking, furniture design, timber framing, and finish carpentry, producing items such as tokonoma alcoves, shoji doors, gates, and custom furniture pieces. Work is carried out using predominantly Japanese hand tools and techniques, and the shop also passes on those methods through woodworking classes and timber-frame workshops often led by guest masters. Project examples include a yellow cedar partition wall, a fir slab dining island, a walnut entry door, and a hexagonal hot tub. Past projects range from a garden shed and a mountain home to a Kyoto-inspired tea room, a sushi counter, and a sauna, indicating a focus on high-quality, bespoke installations for both private and public environments. Fox describes the company's guiding principle as a covenant to "honor the tree," sourcing lumber directly when possible and favoring natural finishes. The design philosophy blends Japanese aesthetics with Shaker and Mid-Century Modern influences, aiming for what he calls "utilitarian elegance" — simple, clean forms that let the material speak for itself.
