About Windsor Chairmakers
Windsor Chairmakers has been hand-crafting fine furniture in Lincolnville, Maine, since 1987. The shop produces Windsor chairs, Shaker-style furniture, dining tables, beds, desks, benches, and custom pieces, all built to order from native New England woods such as tiger maple, cherry, white ash, black walnut, and pine. Each piece receives a multi-layer, environmentally friendly finish topped with a hand-rubbed beeswax coat, and chair joints are reinforced with epoxy for added durability. The company serves residential customers directly, offering a custom design service that begins with a scale drawing based on the client’s ideas. Their lifetime guarantee covers workmanship and wood failure for the original owner, with repair provided at no charge beyond shipping. Windsor Chairmakers distinguishes itself by creating original Windsor designs that blend 18th-century aesthetics with contemporary ergonomics, rather than reproducing antiques. The founders emphasize doing things right the first time, a philosophy reflected in the guarantee and the use of solid wood without veneers or manufactured substrates.
