About Skyline Furniture Mfg. Inc.
Skyline Furniture Mfg. Inc. operates from Thornton, Illinois, in the Chicago metropolitan area. The company was founded in 1946 by Norman Wecker, who launched a small factory in Chicago's south suburbs after returning from World War II. Ownership remains with the Wecker family, now in its third generation, with Norman's granddaughter Meganne Wecker serving as president and chief creative officer. The company produces custom upholstered furniture for bedrooms, dining rooms, living rooms, and offices. Every piece is made to order in its Illinois facility, with fabrics and finishes that customers can customize from an extensive in-house textile library. Since 2016, Skyline has printed its own textiles digitally on site, integrating that capability into an e-commerce-driven supply chain designed for quick turnaround on custom orders. The operation blends traditional handcrafted upholstery with modern manufacturing technology, sourcing materials from across the United States. Skyline sells primarily to retailers, interior designers, and e-commerce platforms that carry its brand to consumers nationwide. Its products appear in major online and brick-and-mortar retail channels, and the company has been featured in Forbes, Furniture Today, and The New York Times for its innovative approach to furniture customization. The business distinguishes itself through a combination of fashion-forward design, in-house digital printing, and a family-culture philosophy that treats employees, suppliers, and customers as extended family. Meganne Wecker's leadership has pushed the company into e-commerce and digital manufacturing while maintaining the craftsmanship legacy established by her grandfather.
