About Tick Tock Energy, Inc.
Tick Tock Energy, Inc. is based in Effingham, Illinois, and was formed in 2006 by brothers Craig, Eric, and Matt Pals. The venture grew out of a family electrical contracting legacy: their father Mike founded Pals Electric, Inc. in 1983, and Eric brought a decade of experience as a journeyman electrician and IBEW Local 146 project foreman, while Craig contributed a background in energy-efficiency project development for Sempra Energy Solutions (now Honeywell) as a licensed professional engineer. The company designs and installs solar photovoltaic systems for commercial, agricultural, and residential customers, specializing in ground-mounted arrays — fixed, single-axis, and dual-axis trackers — as well as roof-mounted installations. It also provides long-term operations and maintenance (O&M) services, energy consulting, energy management systems, and energy-efficient lighting retrofits. Since its founding, Tick Tock Energy has installed more than 1 megawatt of solar and small-wind capacity and has reduced several megawatts of electrical demand through lighting and other efficiency measures. Its client base spans commercial businesses, grain and livestock farms, homeowners, non-profit organizations, and public facilities across Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Iowa, and Kentucky. Notable projects include a 281.6 kW roof-mounted system for a grain farm in McLean, a 700 kW commercial roof array for a refrigerated warehouse in Effingham, a 604.44 kW ground-mounted installation at a rock quarry in Tuscola, and smaller residential arrays for customers served by Ameren and Wayne-White Electric Cooperative. The founders frame the business around energy independence, arguing that on-site generation shields customers from rising utility costs and inflation. The company assists clients in capturing federal investment tax credits, Illinois Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs), and USDA REAP grants for rural operations.
