About Wood and Water MN
Wood and Water MN operates from Lauderdale, Minnesota, where founder Ashley Mellgren established the business after graduating college and acquiring her own workshop. Mellgren, who grew up around construction, traces her passion for making things by hand to a high school woodworking class where she built a bookcase for her parents. The company produces custom wall art, furniture, and a variety of decorative odds and ends. Every piece is made from scratch and hand cut using various saws and hand tools; the shop does not use laser cutters. Offerings include pallet signs, seasonal signs, Minnesota-themed decor, lake signs, coffee tables, wine racks, headboards, bed frames, kitchen islands, barn doors, corn hole boards, and custom business logo signs. The business emphasizes a collaborative approach, inviting customers to request any custom woodwork they can imagine. Mellgren started the venture to fulfill a lifelong desire to make anything and everything she could, and the company differentiates itself by insisting on fully handcrafted, from-scratch production without laser cutting.
