About Hardwood Furniture & Design
The company presents itself as a direct-to-consumer retailer of American-made furniture, sourcing from Amish communities in central Illinois and Ohio as well as traditional workshops in Virginia and North Carolina. The showroom carries collections from brands such as Barkman Amish, Simply Amish, Bassett, and Copeland, offering bedroom, dining, office, and live-edge pieces in cherry, oak, maple, elm, walnut, and hickory. Instead of common freight shipping, the company provides a white-glove delivery service: its own crews inspect, photograph, repack, and hand-deliver each order nationwide, assembling it in the customer’s home for a flat fee of $249 (or $499 for orders above $6,000). The business serves residential buyers across the United States, with testimonials citing customers in Los Angeles and elsewhere. Its showroom is open to the public Wednesday through Sunday, and staff members — including Candy, Garry, and Jess, who also teaches at Stanford’s d.school — assist with design consultation and order placement. Hardwood Furniture & Design emphasizes that its model eliminates the markups of high-rent stores and the damage rates of standard freight carriers. It guarantees that all products are authentically American-made and ecologically responsible, and it offers tax-exempt delivery to addresses outside Illinois.
