About Hinzman Millworks Inc
Hinzman Millworks Inc. operates from West Union, West Virginia, as a fifth-generation, family-owned hardwood manufacturer. The company traces its roots through five generations of family stewardship, though a specific founding year is not publicly disclosed. It began as a stave and lumber operation serving the Appalachian hardwood region. The company produces premium American white oak staves for bourbon and wine barrels, alongside a range of hardwood products including dimensional lumber, cants, railroad ties, construction-grade hardwood, and coal mine cribbing. Its processes cover timber procurement, sawmill operations, stave production, and a state-of-the-art kiln drying system that prepares staves for export. No facility size, headcount, or annual volume figures are published. Hinzman serves cooperages, construction firms, mining operations, and infrastructure projects. Its staves are used by bourbon producers such as Buffalo Trace, and the company has a testimonial from West Virginia Great Barrel Co. It is also expanding into international markets, targeting flooring and furniture manufacturers in Europe, Asia, and South America. The business emphasizes craftsmanship, sustainability, and operational efficiency. It practices selective harvesting to ensure long-term forest health, maintains direct relationships with landowners and loggers, and uses kiln drying to meet strict moisture standards for global shipment. These practices, it says, differentiate its Appalachian white oak in both domestic and export markets.
