Midwest Woodcraft

About Midwest Woodcraft

Midwest Woodcraft operates from Corcoran, Minnesota. The business began when its founder, after 11 years as an auto mechanic, left the trade because the physical demands had taken a toll and pursued a long‑held passion for woodworking. No founding year is published, and the owner is not named in public materials. The shop produces custom furniture and offers a sawmilling service: it picks up downed logs, mills them into lumber or slabs, dries the wood, and builds heirloom pieces from that same material. Work shown includes dovetail‑joined drawers in soft maple, solid walnut buffets, and a quarter‑sawn white oak sewing table with a mission‑style flip‑up mechanism. An Etsy storefront sells smaller finished goods. Facility size, headcount, and annual volume are not disclosed. Customers are primarily residential — homeowners seeking one‑of‑a‑kind pieces that fit a specific space or want to preserve a sentimental tree. The sawmilling service appeals to property owners with large trees slated for removal. No commercial or industrial sectors are cited. The founder describes wood as a grown medium with a soul, and the goal is to reveal what decades of growth have hidden in the bark. The business was started to create pieces that friends and families gather around, turning daily work into something personally meaningful.
