About ShackletonThomas - Charles Shackleton Furniture & Miranda Thomas Pottery

ShackletonThomas operates from Bridgewater, Vermont, where it was founded in 1987 by Charles Shackleton and Miranda Thomas. The company produces a line of furniture—including tables, barstools, and cabinets—and pottery such as mugs, bowls, vases, and serving pieces. Each item is crafted by hand in their Bridgewater Mill workshop, using natural materials such as walnut and ceramic, with details like 24‑karat gold painting on select pottery. The operation includes a retail space and studio viewing platform open to visitors several days a week. While headcount and annual volume are not disclosed, the workshop handles both standard collections and custom commissions, such as a cocktail cabinet and a drop‑leaf table documented in the company’s journal. ShackletonThomas sells directly to consumers through its website and the Bridgewater Mill store, serving the residential furnishings and gift markets. The company also engages a community of followers through a newsletter and seasonal open‑house events. The founders describe their mission as “art for living—creating unique, extraordinary pieces that have soul and life,” emphasizing that every object is made to be treasured for generations.
