About Tuckaway Woodworks
Tuckaway Woodworks operates from a 4,500-square-foot shop in Colchester, Vermont. The business began as a one-person operation in Colchester and later adopted the trade name Modern Craft Cabinetry for its cabinetry line while continuing to build furniture and millwork under the original name. The company produces full-access frameless cabinetry for kitchens, bathrooms, closets, and built-ins, plus bespoke furniture such as tables, dressers, and media consoles. Every component is cut, assembled, sanded, stained or painted, and sealed in-house, including a dedicated paint booth that uses water-borne finishes. The shop works with solid hardwoods (maple, cherry, walnut, quarter-sawn white oak), wood veneers, HDF for one-piece painted doors, and Egger laminate panels across four material tiers. Tuckaway serves residential clients throughout Vermont, handling projects from initial on-site measurement and design through fabrication, finishing, delivery, and installation. Typical customers are homeowners undertaking kitchen remodels, bathroom upgrades, or custom built-in and closet systems. The firm emphasizes precision fit achieved through shop-ready drawings verified before cutting, frameless construction that yields up to 15% more usable storage, and one-piece HDF shaker doors that eliminate joint cracks caused by seasonal humidity swings. All finishing stays in-house to control quality and cure time.
