About Sun Collectors
Sun Collectors was founded in 2019 in Peoria, Illinois, by solar consultant Hunter Trenary and electrical engineer William Grant. The veteran-owned company began with a mission to repair the solar industry's reputation through honest, pressure-free service and quality workmanship. Initially partnering with local electricians such as 360 Electric, the founders later established a sister company, Oasis Electric, to bring all design and installation in-house. The firm provides turnkey solar energy systems for residential, commercial, and agricultural customers across Central Illinois. Services include custom system design, installation, battery storage integration, and ongoing monitoring via a free 24/7 app. Every project is managed by in-house crews—no subcontractors—and backed by a 30-year roof penetration and workmanship warranty. To date, the company has installed more than 3,000 systems using Tier 1-rated panels and equipment. Sun Collectors serves homeowners, businesses of all sizes, and farms throughout the region. Its portfolio spans rooftop arrays for single-family houses, larger commercial installations, and agricultural systems for rural operations. The company also assists clients with roof replacement through a partnership with Ready Roof, offering discounted roofing quotes when needed. The company differentiates itself through veteran-owned, community-rooted ownership; a no-lease model that lets customers own their systems outright; and a commitment to transparency, evidenced by its Illinois Shines Approved Vendor status and extensive local sponsorships. The founders emphasize education and long-term relationships over sales volume.
