About Wood Machinery Systems
Wood Machinery Systems (WMS) is headquartered in Minnetonka, Minnesota, where Jim Besonen founded the company in 1995 to supply woodworking and furniture manufacturers with high‑tech equipment and a lifetime of customer support. The business remains family‑owned and locally operated. WMS distributes new and used woodworking machinery from a range of global brands, covering categories such as boring machines, dovetailers, moulders, saws, sanders, dust collectors, and router bits. The company also stocks parts and tooling for wood, aluminum, composites, and plastics. Beyond equipment sales, WMS provides installation, hands‑on training, repair, warranty service, technical maintenance, consulting, and financing through a partnership with Stearns Bank. The customer base spans home hobbyists, specialty boutiques, and large‑scale manufacturers producing windows, doors, cabinets, clocks, and other wood products. WMS serves clients throughout the Midwest and beyond, positioning itself as a supply‑chain link for businesses of all sizes. The company emphasizes a family‑owned philosophy of treating others as it would like to be treated, investing in employees, suppliers, and customers rather than maximizing short‑term profit. Its stated differentiator is a “lifetime of customer support” that covers the entire distribution process from delivery to ongoing maintenance.
